Drivers are being encouraged to avoid 64th Avenue between Tieton Drive and Nob Hill Boulevard during most of next week while a grind and overlay project is underway.

Beginning Tomorrow, September 12th, 64th Avenue between Tieton and Nob Hill will be closed to traffic from 6:30 am to 3:30 pm. The road will be closed the same hours on Tuesday, September 15th, Wednesday, September 14th, and Thursday, September 15th.

Access to Westwood golf course will be maintained throughout the project. Golfers will be able to get to the Westwood parking lot from the Tieton Drive end of 64th Avenue.

A grind and overlay project involves removing old and deteriorated asphalt and replacing it with new asphalt, which significantly improves the drivability and safety of the road surface.

City of Yakima crews have completed several grind and overlay projects this summer including along 5th Avenue and 16th Avenue, and at several intersections throughout the community.

For additional information about the upcoming grind and overlay projects, contact the Streets and Traffic Division at 575-6005.
