Two people from Yakima have announced an intention to run for political office in the area.

Local political activist and Democrat Tony Sandoval has announced the formation of an exploratory committee for a potential run for the 4th District Congressional seat. That seat is currently held by Doc Hastings who plans to retire at the end of the year. The 49-year-old Sandoval says key parts of a potential platform include immigration reform and protecting the interest of agriculture.

A 67-year-old retired accountant from Yakima has announced his run for Yakima County Auditor. Earl Hall is a Democrat from Yakima who believes he is the only candidate qualified for the job after spending some 36 years in accounting.
