Yakima attorney Joe Brusic announced today that he is a candidate for Yakima County Prosecutor.  A position currently held by Jim Hagarty, who has not announced whether or not he's seeking re-election.  The 50 year old Brusic is a partner in the law firm Hurst, Brumback and Brusic, where he made his announcement today

Brusic spent a year as a deputy prosecutor for Kitsap County before moving back to Yakima where he spent 10 years as a deputy prosecutor under former Prosecuting Attorney Jeff Sullivan. He was a senior deputy prosecutor in both Superior and Juvenile courts.

Brusic said his experience working under Sullivan helped to prepare him for the job as prosecutor.  Brusic is a graduate of the University of Washington and he received his law degree from the University of Puget Sound. He  is married to his wife Brenda and they have four children.
