SEATTLE (AP) — Lawmakers agreed Wednesday on a report to the Washington Supreme Court on progress they've made toward fully paying the cost of basic education.

The report outlines their plan to correct the state's over-reliance on local school tax levies. The plan calls for more data on school employee pay and commits the 2017 Legislature to finish the work the Supreme Court demanded in its 2012 McCleary ruling on school funding.

The plan also assigned the planning work to the Education Funding Task Force, which met earlier in the day.
