A murder investigation is underway at the Yakima County Jail. Two inmates at the jail face murder charges after 27-year-old Timothy Denton of Yakima was found dead in a cell on the 4th floor on Wednesday morning. Authorities say Denton suffered trauma to his upper body. An autopsy is set for later today. The two suspects are identified as a 25-year-old man from Yakima and a 19-year-old man from Outlook.
Denton had been booked into the Yakima County jail on Tuesday after being arrested by Yakima Police and the Violent Offender Task Force for assault.
The afternoon was spent processing the scene and collecting evidence.  Investigators are interviewing Yakima County Department of Corrections (YCDOC) staff and inmates in an attempt to determine what happened.  Investigators are also reviewing surveillance video as part of the investigation.
