Yakima County Sheriff's detectives are busy this week searching for answers after a hunter on Friday reported finding human bones including a human jawbone in a remote area of Cleman Mountain north of Naches.
Yakima SO detectives responded to the remote location several miles north of Naches.  Investigators were able to get ATV’s to within a half mile of the location and hiked to the remote site from there.

While documenting and searching the area, detectives located additional human bones and clothing confirming that human remains had been located.  An initial cause of death could not be determined.

The scene suggested that the remains had been at the location for several years.  The identity of the deceased has not yet been determined.  Investigators will be reviewing active missing persons cases as part of this investigation.  The skeletal structure has been turned over to the Yakima County coroner.

Detectives and the Yakima County coroner’s office will work to identify the deceased and additional information will be released as it becomes available.

Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to call the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office at 574-2500 or 800-572-0490.  Tips including anonymous tips can also be called into Crime Stoppers of Yakima County at 248-9980 or 800-248-9980 or on the internet at yakima.crimestoppersweb.com.
