Dear sir -- or if you prefer, madam:

The New York Commission on Human RIghts issued a document this week outlining how Mayor Bill de Blasio's office will enforce a 2002 New York law meant to protect transgendered people's rights.

Buzzfeed reports that the key points in the commission's document including this nugget:

Everyone from landlords to bosses to city agencies -- even police officers -- must address people by the pronoun of their choice or face fines of up to $250,000.

So if a man who considers himself female prefers to be called a "she," the cops had better pay close attention to his (or her) wishes.

And that's not all.

The document also makes it clear that no establishment, public or private, can deny anyone access to restrooms or locker rooms based on gender identity.

So evidently, if you say you're a girl, you can use the women's room -- even if you're a 6-foot-2 guy wearing camo and a beard. Yup. Go right on in there ... miss.

What do you think of all this? Are we going to extremes to accommodate transgendered people? Are you OK with same-sex restrooms and locker rooms?

Take our poll and tell us what you think.
