I don’t know if you heard liberal pundit & TV personality Bob Beckel on the Sean Hannity show this week . He was talking about his personal journey through drug and alcohol addiction as told in his new book I Should Be Dead : My Life Surviving Politics, TV, and Addiction. As highlighted on Amazon – “written with captivating honesty, Beckel chronicles how his addictions nearly killed him until he found help in an unexpected ally, conservative Cal Thomas, who helped him find faith, get sober, and get his life back on track”.

Having been there & done that , Beckel knows a thing or two about drugs and he confirms what a new survey says. Heroin use is on the rise.

A survey out from the Drug Enforcement Administration found that heroin use is soaring in the U.S., and the growth in its abuse is now considered the top drug threat by the nation's police, surpassing methamphetamine.

Seizures of heroin by police have nearly doubled in the past five years, and the number of heroin users is up 51 percent. Abuse of prescription drugs, painkillers in particular, also remains high, and those drugs and heroin together account for two-thirds of overdose deaths.

The experts say that the Mexican cartels have shifted production from marijuana to opium poppies and the resulting ready supply is forcing prices down.
