Governor Asks for Federal Help for White Swan

Governor Chris Gregoire says that the scope of damage is beyond state and tribal resources.

In Toppenish today, Washington Governor Chris Gregoire said that she has asked the federal government to declare a major disaster as a result of the catastophic wildfire that burned nearly 20 homes on February 12th.  Nearly 80 people are still homeless as a result.

The Governor said damage was so severe and widespread that it is beyond state and tribal resources and that federal assistance is necessary for recovery.
