The kids are back in school and Fall is right around the corner and gas prices are still under $3 a gallon. But for the first time this year prices have taken a big spike. Gasbuddy.com says average retail gasoline prices in Yakima have risen 6.8 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.66/g yesterday, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 91 gas outlets in Yakima. This compares with the national average that has fallen 1.8 cents per gallon in the last week to $2.17/g, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.

Including the change in gas prices in Yakima during the past week, prices yesterday were 10.7 cents per gallon lower than the same day one year ago and are 15.9 cents per gallon higher than a month ago. The national average has increased 5.0 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 17.2 cents per gallon lower than this day one year ago.

According to GasBuddy historical data, gasoline prices on September 12 in Yakima have ranged widely over the last five years:
$2.77/g in 2015, $3.82/g in 2014, $3.68/g in 2013, $4.02/g in 2012 and $3.88/g in 2011.
