More than 1 hundred structures have been destroyed and firefighters have spent days fighting the Monastery fire 10 miles North of Goldendale. Fire officials say despite the hot dry weather in the region the fire is now 70 percent contained. So far the blaze has burned 36 hundred acres. Of the 100 structures burned in the fire 18 are homes, five are cabins and 56 are outbuildings. One bridge was also lost to the fire. No injuries have been reported. The fire started last Wednesday along Highway 97.
