The Downtown Association of Yakima has started a social media campaign featuring business owners in the community who like the proposed plaza idea for downtown Yakima. Association President Victor Delong. "We are trying to show there's some support in the community for this and also just trying to educate people as far as the facts go  that parking isn't an issue etc. so ultimately people can decide."
He says the Facebook posting campaign showing members of the business community who support the plaza idea is designed to educate people in Yakima about the plaza and show that a variety of people support the idea. The posts feature pictures of local business owners and their words why they want the idea to become reality in downtown Yakima. The post includes these words about the plaza. "An undeniable catalyst for economic development, an enduring source of community pride."  The Yakima City Council could vote on the future of the project at it's May 3 meeting at city hall.
