Sacred Messengers Brings Answers to Yakima
Sacred Messengers (SM) has announced a 2014 project, bringing Answers in Genesis (AiG) to Yakima Valley in both May and October free events.
The local theme for these conferences is “holding fast to the faithful word,” from Titus 1:9. “We need to stand on God’s word because it is trustworthy,” said Duane Decker, SM Executive Director, “Doubt has led our communities to a place where we need an Answers Conference.”
“Answers in Genesis promotes establishing the authority of God’s Word through the local church, “ Decker continued, “Such an event fits one of our goals, the promotion of community wide Christian events.”
“In recent years, there has been a trend to accept some scriptures and reject others. This undermining of the authority of God’s Word not only weakens beliefs for church-goers, but it also weakens the effect of the gospel on our communities. The resulting values, those from outside the Bible’s teachings, I believe, are largely responsible for our current troubles. ‘If the foundations are destroyed, What can the righteous do?’ from Psalm 11:3, is a favorite verse of Ken Ham, founder of AiG.”
The first event, a Christian Leaders Preview will be held in May. Among those encouraged to attend will be pastoral staff, facilitators, directors, teachers, and board members. Each attendee will receive a take-away promo pack.
The Spanish preview comes first at the First Baptist Church/ Comunidad Cristiana, 515 E. Yakima Ave. at 3:00 PM, Saturday, May 17, 2014. There will be room for about 350 attendees at the church.
The English preview will be at the South Ballroom of the Convention Center, 7:00 PM, Friday, May 30, 2014. Another 350 are expected to attend.
The main Answers Conference will be held Saturday, October 25th, starting at 10:00 AM at the Yakima Valley Visitors and Convention Center and will contain five sessions of differing topics. Separate rooms will be available for Spanish and English meetings totaling 1500 seats. The AiG speakers will be Bodie Hodge and Joe Owen. Books and videos can be purchased and tables will be available for material from other Christian Organizations.
There is no charge for attendance at any of these events. Registration will open April 14th for the May previews and August 25th for the October conference. Sacred Messengers is accepting donations to cover the events. More Information and flyers are on the SM website: sacredmessengers.com.
