Authorities in the central Washington community of Ephrata say a man was stabbed and later died Friday.

KREM-TV reports that Ephrata police and Grant County sheriff's officers who answered a domestic violence call confronted a man in his 20s who had barricaded himself inside the home with a knife.

The man's girlfriend and child were outside the home when officers arrived.

KREM reports that when authorities entered the home they found the man stabbed in the chest. He was taken to a local hospital and was later pronounced dead.
