Earlier Closure Of I 90 This Week For Rock Blasting

As summer days start getting shorter, crews will be closing Interstate 90 east of Snoqualmie Pass for rock blasting at 6:30 p.m.

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) and contractor crews have been closing the highway at 7 p.m., but because of shorter days and the safety of our construction crews and the traveling public, both directions of I-90 will close from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 19 through Thursday, Sept. 22, from Gold Creek (milepost 56) to the Price Creek Sno Park (milepost 61).

Rock blasting is part of the $551 million -I-90 Snoqualmie Pass East Hyak to Keechelus Dam project <http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/projects/i90/snoqualmiepasseast/hyaktokeechelusdam/> to widen a five-mile stretch of the highway from four to six lanes and improve reliability and safety.
