A DNA test has led Yakima County sheriff's deputies to an arrest this week.

Nearly a year ago, a burglar pushed his way through a front door of a home on Hickory Lane outside Selah, pointed a gun at the woman homeowner and demanded money. The woman's husband fired shots at the suspect, who fled the home.

Deputies found a glove from the suspect on a fence in the backyard. They used a DNA test from that glove to determine that it was an 18-year-old man with a Yakima address.

The man is currently in jail for an unrelated burglary in Benton County. He now faces new burglary and assault charges in Yakima County Superior Court.
