County Sheriffs Investigating Shooting In Wapato

A gang-related shooting in the Lower Valley on Wednesday has left a 16-year-old boy from Wapato with gunshot wounds. Yakima County Sheriff’s detectives are searching for suspects. Deputies say it happened at about 10:00 p.m. Wednesday near the intersection of Highway 97 and West Wapato Road. The teen was shot multiple times in the stomach. He’s expected to recover at a Yakima hospital.

Deputies say the suspect(s) was driving a dark blue or black Dodge Neon or Honda sedan with primer on the right front fender or bumper area of the car. Anyone with information is asked to call the Yakima Sheriff’s Office at 574-2500 or Crimestoppers at 586-tips or 1-800-222-TIPS.
