Yakima Police continue to try to improve relations with the community through their ongoing Coffee With a Cop gatherings -- and they're planning another one this afternoon at the McDonald's restaurant at First Street and Yakima Avenue.

Police spokesman Mike Bastinelli says the program's been a big success so far.

"You look in the restaurant and see a citizen talking with an officer and that's success. Because that's the idea of Coffee With a Cop is allowing the citizens to sit down in a relaxed environment with a police officer."

Officers, detectives even a K-9 officer will be available this afternoon. You can ask questions, bring your concerns or just sit and have a conversation with an officer. The coffee is free. The event is set for 4-6 p.m. this afternoon (Aug. 19).
