Last week homeless in Yakima were moved from an East Chestnut neighborhood to a vacant lot across the street from the Yakima Police Department at 3rd and Walnut. But not all the homeless moved to the lot. Some moved to other city parks and property and now the city is hoping to prevent people from camping in those other areas. So on tuesday the council will consider an ordinance to make it against the law to camp or store personal property on city property. The encampment near the police department is temporary since housing vouchers are expected to be available to homeless next month. The Yakima City Council meets at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall on Tuesday.
