The city of Yakima is getting closer to selling 4 former Tiger Marts in the city that have been closed for years. City Manager Tony O'Rourke says city crews and the Department of Ecology have been busy with environmental restoration and clean up of the sites that were closed years ago because of leaking fuel tanks. Now O'Rourke says this is the year that the city will put those properties back on the market. "At least two of the sites will be ready for market and sale by the close of this year" The properties are located, at 56th and Summitview, 24th and Nob Hill, 1808 North First Street and 16th Street and East Nob Hill Blvd. In 2013 the city purchased the properties from a private seller.
Once they're cleaned and the properties restored O'Rourke is hoping they'll be sold to developers that will enhance the areas and create new jobs.
