The Yakima City Council will hold a special meeting at 9:30 a.m. Friday to talk about the possibility of sharing tax dollars made by the state marijuana sales.

The request for the tax dollars was made by the Association of Washington Cities (AWC). City Manager Tony O'Rourke says, “Regardless if the city allows the sale of marijuana, the impacts of legalization are significant on law enforcement."

O'Rourke says the city should get some of those tax dollars to help law enforcement.

The problem for the city is that an AWC letter to the state included the an electronic signature of Yakima Mayor Micah Cawley that was not authorized.

The city plans to discuss the issue at city hall and decide whether to support the AWC position or not.
