The Yakima City Council has its priorities and they can be found in the 2015 city budget that is expected to be approved on December 9th.

City Manager Tony O'Rourke says the council's top priorities are public safety and economic development.

We’re investing in everything from enhanced police staffing and technology. Improved equipment for the fire department. But also investment on North First Street and the mill site.

The city is also spending $400,000 on engineering work for the downtown plaza. O'Rourke says 2015 holds a lot of promise for the city of Yakima.

The city council held its final public hearing on the budget at city hall last night. The $205 million 2015 budget is expected to be approved at the councils’ last meeting of the year next Tuesday at 2:00 p.m.
