Christmas Quandary–Surprise Gift or One From the List — Dave’s Diary

Here is my latest Christmas Quandary.  When it comes to finding the perfect present for family & friends for Christmas, is it better to try to get someone a gift that you think they'll like and have it be a surprise, or is it better to ask the person what exactly they want?

Let's face it, nobody wants to be the one who gives the gifts that others re-gift or hide in the closet.

I prefer a surprise...how about you?
