Child in Harborview After Being Struck by Car

Moxee Police are investigating a car versus pedestrian accident that sent a 6-year-old child to the hospital Wednesday evening.

Police say they were dispatched to the accident on the 300 block of East Moxee Avenue just after 6:30 p.m.

When officers arrived to the scene, they found that a 6-year-old girl riding a small scooter had been struck in the roadway by a vehicle traveling eastbound on Moxee Avenue.

The vehicle was driven by a 69-year-old woman, who has fully cooperated with the investigation.

The child was transferred to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with serious head injuries.

Police say it doesn't appear that intoxicants or excessive speed were factors in the accident.

When the investigation is complete, it will be forwarded to the Yakima County Prosecutors office for review.
