Firefighters are making progress in their efforts to get the largest wildfire in Washington state's history under control, with wetter weather bringing some relief but also raising concerns about flash flooding.
The Washington State Department of Health is alerting that Wildfires now cover about 273,000 acres of land in Washington, and state health officials warn of potential health risks from heavy smoke and compromised water systems.
Escaped campfires are the leading source of human-caused wild fires on the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest and usually occur when campers fail to completely extinguish their campfire before leaving campsites.
