Fundraiser for Geppetto’s Employees at Franklin Park on June 18th

On Wednesday, June 12th, Geppetto's Italian Bistro was devastated by a fire. Owners wish to rebuild due to the outpouring of community support, but that will take many months.

The entire staff is now unemployed, and a fundraiser has been set up to help them all in their financial need. One Geppetto's staff member and other community members are handling all details of the fundraiser. None of the proceeds are being used to rebuild or support the restaurant in any way. 100% of the profits will be divided among the employees only.

Yakima Police Bicycle Patrol Hitting the Streets

Starting Today Yakima's downtown will see a bicycle patrol unit. Chief Dominic Rizzi is hoping the patrols will help people feel safe while in the downtown area. Two officers everyday on 10 hour shifts will cruise all over the downtown area beginning this morning. They will work closely with downtown crews to help people feel safer while walking, shopping or dining in downtown Yakima.
