Despite some objections from citizens the Grandview City Council is expected to vote next month on an increase in car tab fees to pay for street repairs. The 20 dollar increase would raise 180 thousand dollars every year to beef up the city street fund. The state legislature last year approved a measure allowing city and county officials to impose the 20 dollar fee without asking voters. The fee is already being collected in the cities of Mabton and Prosser. Yakima City officials say there's been no talk of implementing such a tax to pay for streets repairs.

The Grandview City Council's next meeting is set for March 8th.
