The owner of Yakima's H&H Furniture says he is against a gas tax to pay for transportation needs in the State.

State officials are looking for ways to pay for road repairs in the State and a gas tax is being talked about.

Mark Peterson of Yakima tells KIT News, “In this state unfortunately with the Department of Transportation they just have a poor record when it comes to responsible spending. Just giving them more money without reforms just isn’t going to fly.”

Peterson is the 2013 State Council President for the National Federation of Independent Business

Peterson and other small business owners want major economic reform in the state instead of increasing the gas tax to pay for transportation needs.

In a recent survey of NFIB members in the state 62 percent were against an increase in the gas tax.
