Cemeteries in the Yakima Valley and throughout the state are already busy as the Memorial weekend kicks off. Lydia Webb is the General Manager of Terrace Heights Memorial Park where thousands are expected over the weekend. She says Mothers Day and Easter are busy days at the park. But she tells KIT News Memorial Day weekend is by far the busiest. "So many people come out to pay tribute to their loved ones who are buried here. It's great to see them and all the flowers they bring."
Webb says staff members will be available throughout the weekend and the grounds will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. If you need help in finding a grave site the office will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. You can also check out the website at thmemorialpark.org where you'll find a map on the site you can view on your phone. And while you're visiting check out the nesting swans in the park pond. Webb says they expect babies or signets in the immediate future...any day now.
