The Yakima County Auditors’ Office says two write-in candidates in the primary election must gain one percent of the vote to move on to the general election.

Yakima County Elections Manager Kathy Fisher says both however are undeclared write-in candidates.

Which means that any write-in vote they receive has to be very specific.

In other words Fisher says if you are writing in a person's name, it needs to be the full name and spelled as correctly as possible because Fisher says there could be another registered voter with a similar name so to avoid a problem the auditors’ office will not count the vote.

People are considered undeclared write-in candidates when they miss the declared candidate filing time that ended on July 18.

Republican Michael Scott Brumback is running as a write-in candidate for the 14th legislative district seat held by Representitive Norm Johnson. Republican Curtis Vangstad is a write-in candidate for the Yakima County Commssioner seat held by Rand Elliot in District 3.
