Attention, my fellow civilians. The sound of freedom is coming to the Yakima Training Center on Monday and it’s going to be loud. Here is the latest in a news release from Joint Base Lewis-McChord! “Units assigned to 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division are deploying to Yakima Training Center this week to participate in company level certification training. The training, scheduled to begin Monday is in preparation for an upcoming rotation to the National Training Center, Fort Irwin, Calif.

During the monthlong training event the local community may notice increased artillery fire from the unit’s M777 Howitzers as well as increased aviation activity during the day, evening and nighttime hours. Firing will be conducted from several ranges at the training center.

Queries or comments about noise may be directed to the JBLM Public Affairs Office’s External Communication Division hotline at (253) 967-0852, daily. “

Some extra noise is a small price to pay for operational readiness in a dangerous world.  The soldiers need to practice in part to become so good nobody will ever challenge them to take what they’ve learned and put it into practice!  Welcome to the valley, 3rd Brigade!
