We’ve got pot, yes we do, we’ve got pot and Oregon too. There has been a significant increase in support in recent years for legalizing recreational use of marijuana, and four states have already passed legislation doing so.

So as the rest of the nation weighs and considers the issue, one thing has become clear—more men favor legalization than do women.

A new Quinnipiac University polling in Florida found that 57 percent of men approved of legal marijuana compared to 46 percent of women. Similarly, 59 percent of male voters in Ohio support legalization, compared to 47 percent of female voters.

A Pew Research Center poll done this spring showed the difference on the national level, with men supporting legalization more than women, 57 percent to 49 percent.

What accounts for the difference? Pretty simple considering the research shows men support legalized recreational marijuana more than women do because they smoke it more because there is more lawbreaking behavior in males.
