Boy Struck and Killed By Truck In Mabton

A 6-year-old boy was killed while crossing a street in Mabton on Monday. Troopers say it happened in the area of 4th Avenue and Jefferson Street around 4:45 p.m. They say the boy was with 3 other kids playing outside when they ran across 4th Avenue to get from one house to another. The 6-year-old, who hasn't been identified was hit by the truck driven by 23-year-old Dominique Mariscal of Mabton.

Troopers say the area where the boy was hit is a 25 mph speed zone and it does not appear that the driver was speeding at the time.

An investigation into the accident continues today.
