“Be Prepared”? This Is Not Your Father’s Scout Troop

The Boys Scouts are taught to “Be Prepared” but are they prepared for a future under gay leaders, with gay and now transgendered scouts?

Yesterday the Boy Scouts of America announced that it is now allowing transgender children to enroll in its scouting programs.

The Washington Post reports Chief Scout Executive, Michael Surbaugh said the organization will accept boys based on the gender which a parent places on their child's scouting application.  Formerly, the Scouts only accepted boys based on the gender listed on their birth certificate but the scouts have experienced a number of recent changes.  In 2013, they ended their ban on gay scouts, in 2015, they allowed gay scout leaders.

The Scout Oath is: On my honor, I will do my best To do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; To help other people at all times; To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight.
The Scout Law is that a Scout be  : Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean, and Reverent.

Do you see this as century old organization just keeping up with the times or is this the further erosion of American bedrock values and institutions.  Is this progress or is it decline?
