April 1-7 is National Be Kind to Spiders Week. Does Hallmark have a card for this? Wow, here it is Be Kind To Spiders Week, and I haven't done any shopping. Now, I know that spiders can be a very valuable critter when it comes to gardening and ridding us of undesirable insect pests, but it's a different story at my house.

My soon-to-be 13 year old daughter is deathly, and I mean deathly afraid of spiders. So much so that if you even tease her about it, she's in tears. I finally got her to clean her room by telling her that spiders were laying eggs in the junk on her floor.

And I'm sorry, but I will not be looking to bond with a Black Widow or Brown Recluse any time soon.

How about you? Are you afraid of spiders, or do you see them as beneficial creatures? And what kind of spider is the photo in this post of?
