Rep. Anthony Weiner has reportedly told friends that he will resign from office, a source close to the situation revealed to the NY Times.

The decision was reportedly made after “long discussions” with his wife, Huma Abedin, who returned to the States Tuesday after a trip to Africa with her boss, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

The decision follows weeks of public scrutiny after it was revealed that Weiner had engaged in explicit online relationships with at least six women over the course of three years. Numerous people have since called for his resignation, including Rep. Nancy Pelosi. Even President Barack Obama chimed in, telling ‘TODAY’s’ Ann Curry, “If it was me, I would resign.”

Earlier this week, TMZ posted lewd photos Weiner took of himself at a Congressional gym, which was arguably the final blow to his case.
