Crews at the Yakima Airport will start resurfacing and widening taxiways this summer.

The Federal Aviation Administration gave the airport an $11 million grant for construction projects, and starting in July, staff will put the money to use.

The project will also correct any taxiway signs and lights, which right now are not meeting FAA standards. Construction should wrap up just before Thanksgiving in time for all those holiday travelers.

The project will not have a major impact on travelers, and there will still be the same number of flights in and out of the airport during construction this summer.
