Hundreds Turnout for Downtown Summer Nights

An estimated crowd of 800 to 900 people attended the first ever Downtown Summer Nights in Yakima last night. The event is co-sponsored by Townsquare Media, Legends Casino and the City of Yakima.  Downtown Summer Nights  will be held each Thursday through the summer with the exception of the fourth of July week.  Too Slim and the Taildraggers, the well known rock-blues band was the featured entertainment. Vendors seemed pleased with the turnout and the expectation is that more vendors will be there for the next Downtown Summer Nights.

City of Yakima Development and Economic Manager Sean Hawkins was one of the forces behind the event. He was pleased with the first event and hopes that it will continue to grow throughout the summer.  The idea behind the event is to get people to come downtown Yakima and to have fun. The next Downtown Summer Nights is next Thursday with the country group Brewers Grade will headline the entertainment.
