The YWCA of Yakima has been about the business of helping women and bettering the community for 110 years, but even with all that, Monday was special. Monday marked the 25th anniversary of the YWCA's Leadership Luncheon.

The premier fundraiser has featured a lot of famous and high-powered guests over the years and the 25th edition features television news and sports personality Soledad O'Brien.

The luncheon serves as a fundraiser to enlighten community members and empower victims of domestic violence and racism. O'Brien spoke about what happens when you decide to "own your own story."

She's spent many years on television as a morning show anchor and special correspondent for CNN, NBC, MSNBC, Al Jazeera, HBO and TechTV. She is also a producer, journalist and CEO of her own media production company. These days, she is seen on a weekly syndicated political show, Matter of Fact with Soledad O'Brien.

While she was in Yakima, she toured the YWCA with Executive Director Cheri Kilty and other Y staffers. Here's a little of what she saw:
