Its been talked about for a while and now its really happening.  How about a rousing but restrained golf clap for First Tee of Yakima's move to SOZO!  Southwest Rotary has helped round up the funds needed for Phase 1 of The First Facility at SOZO Sports Complex.

Executive director of The First Tee, Christina McCarthy says,  “Being located at SOZO will put us right on bus lines, making us accessible to just about anyone. I am so grateful to the Rotary Clubs and the Trust for joining with a very dedicated private donor to let us move from planning to construction!”

As soon as permits are done the five acre plot will be prepped for irrigation and seeding. This summer, a 7,000 square foot artificial turf practice green will be installed, and grass will be planted on the rest of the area, providing time for the grass to mature and stabilize before beginning programming in the Spring of 2019.

First Tee's press release says "When completed, the entire facility will include not only the 9-hole green, but three mid-range holes and three more small artificial greens. The park-like setting will also include a wheelchair accessible path, and special wheel chair tee blocks."
