While public school district officials are still researching whether or not to reopen schools one private school in Yakima is ready to welcome students back to school this fall. Riverside Christian School Superintendent Rick Van Beek says they hope to have students back in class by August 26 if Yakima County and state officials allow schools to reopen. He says they have no plan to defy any local or state orders. But he says if schools are given the go-ahead he believes they can create enough space in classrooms to keeps students at school for full school days.

Van Beek says smaller class sizes than public schools will allow Riverside Christian to open if they get the OK. He says if that doesn't happen they're prepared for online or distance learning/classes as well.
Officials at other major private schools in Yakima including Lasalle High School, St. Joseph-Marquette School and Christ The Teacher Catholic School were not available for comment.
