A history website reminds us that Memorial Day started off as Decoration Day shortly  after the civil war - not to commemorate any particular battle but to honor all who fell in war.

During World War I the holiday evolved to commemorate American military personnel who died in all wars.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 379 and the American Legion Post 36 and their Auxilliaries of Yakima will conduct their service on Monday the 27th at 10 am at Tahoma Cemetery on South 24th Avenue in Yakima.

The service will include an invocation, presentation of wreaths, a speech, rifle salute and the playing of taps.  The public is encouraged to attend - 10 sharp!
