Even though Yakima remains in modified phase 1 of the state's reopening plan the county has been given the go ahead to open area pools beginning August 1. However Ken Wilkinson, Director of the Yakima Parks and Recreation Department says pools are limited to five people with social distancing so he says the city will wait until more people are allowed before opening Lions Pool. On Wednesday Wilkinson was hoping the city could open on Monday, August 3.
Under the county Roadmap to Recovery Drive-in movies are also allowed so Wilkinson says they investigating how that could be made possible at a Yakima park.
Other changes set for August 1? Outdoor seating for restaurants, bars, wineries and breweries. Retail stores are allowed up to 25% capacity with a 30 minute shopping time limit. Churches can continue with outdoor services.
Governor Jay Inslee announced the changes this week as cases in Yakima continue to level or decrease.
