Yakima’s Home and Garden Show Canceled Over COVID-19 Concerns
Chalk up one for the bad luck side of Friday the 13th. Instead of going to the Central Washington Home and Garden Show this weekend, we'll all have to stay at home and dream about the gardens to come.
In light of the recent announcement by the city of Yakima, Yakima County and county officials declaring a state of emergency due to the COVID-19, all SunDome and State Fair Park events are canceled through the end of March.
That list includes this weekend’s Central Washington Home Builder Show, which was set to start at noon today (March 13).
“In the interest of public safety and supporting our local officials, we have immediately canceled all events," Kathy Kramer, president and CEO of the Central Washington Fair Association said in a news release. "We appreciate your patience and thank you for your understanding.”
At the time of this writing (10 a.m. Friday, March 13) Yakima County health officials had two confirmed cases of the virus and were waiting on test results from several more suspected cases.
