The Yakima City Council is now waiting to see three concept designs for a proposed outdoor pool at Martin Luther King Jr. Park. City Parks and Recreation Director Ken Wilkenson says the concepts are being put together following a public hearing earlier this month in which parks and recreation officials heard what the community would like to see at the park.

The concepts will also include cost estimates. When they're ready later this summer the consultants will be back in Yakima.

"We'll create some forums so people can come and take a look at what they came up with and ask more questions." Wilkenson says. "They'll then go back to their offices and come up with a final proposal."
That final design will then be presented to the council for approval. If that happens, the city will then begin the work to find the funding for the project that is estimated between $4 million and $12 million.
