It was a long weekend for fire crews battling a big blaze on Yakima Training Center land. The flames burned nearly 25,000 acres according to fire spokesman Rick Acosta. Firefighters made a lot of progress over the weekend containing the fire and dousing hot spots. The fire started last Wednesday. The cause remains under investigation. And even though the flames threatened Wanapum Village and residents were evacuated no structures burned and no injuries were reported.
