Yakima Sunfair Festival Association director Brian Campfield has announced that the 57th edition of the Sunfair Parade will honor Yakima County Sheriff Brian Winter as Grand Marshall.

Campfield says Sheriff Winter had an exemplary career in military service starting 1981.  He's a veteran of the first gulf war and as a US Marine spent several tours of duty overseas serving America with pride and distinction.

His civilian law enforcement career included time with the Union Gap Police force and in 2014 he became Yakima County Sheriff.   Winter's law enforcement career will be cut short by a recent diagnosis of ALS, resulting in his decision not to seek re-election this fall. The Sunfair Parade is set for the first day of fall, September 22 in downtown Yakima.
