Yakima Road Work Closes Portion of Powerhouse Tuesday
Road and signal work continues in the city of Yakima this summer as the work intensifies to finish before the fall and winter months. If you drive in the city check our website everyday to see if your commute will be impacted. On Tuesday you could be slowed by a stormwater manhole project on Powerhouse Road.
A portion of the road will be closed for most of the day Tuesday
The road will be closed from Englewood Avenue to 26th Avenue during scheduled work hours of 6:00 am to 3:00 pm.
City officials say "flaggers and signs will be in place to assist drivers with detours.Drivers are reminded that the speed limit through all traffic-related work zones within the City of Yakima is 20 miles-per-hour."
While this is road work could slow you down it also is work that could improve your ride over the road.
More road and signal work is expected before the summer is over
During the project, traffic delays in the area are likely to occur. Drivers should use alternate routes until project completion. The work may cause interruptions in scheduled refuse collection. Contact the City of Yakima Refuse Division at 509-575-6005 for more information. The schedule for this type of project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.
Contact Wastewater Maintenance Supervisor Robert Brown at 509-406-7103 for more information about the project. More signal work is expected this summer as city officials replace the lights with new update LED lights all around the city. That work has forced many people to use the 4-way-stop rule learned in drivers education many years ago.
