Give if you can. That is the request from the Yakima office of The American Red Cross to help those hit hard by tornadoes in Oklahoma. The Executive Director Lisa Rhinehart says Red Cross chapters across the country are gathering donations while Red Cross workers are on the ground helping in shelters. She says Yakima residents just need to reach out and open their wallets. You have several options to help. You can call 1- 800-red cross and donate over the phone or online at redcross.org. You can text the number 90999 and make an automatic 10 dollar donation or you can drop off a check or cash at the Red Cross office in Yakima located at 302 south 2nd Street across from the Yakima Police Department. Rhinehart says the agency needs cash to help with needs on the ground. “We have people that need some basic things to live and donations help us purchase those items in the areas to get them to people as soon as possible.” Rhinehart says Yakima is also generous when it comes to helping out other parts of the country.
