You probably have a favorite food, maybe a favorite song or movie or perhaps a favorite pair of jeans - BUT do you have a favorite  book?   If so, do you think others share your taste in reading?  Does America have a favorite book?   PBS is on a mission to discover America’s most-loved novel and through The Great American Read project, the Yakima Valley Libraries are supporting the effort.

According to PBS,  The Great American Read is an eight-part documentary series that explores the power of reading.  PBS says, "It investigates how and why writers create their fictional worlds, how we as readers are affected by these stories." The stories in particular are those told in 100 popular books chosen by survey.

The list of all 100 titles is available on the PBS website but eager readers will also find it at Yakima Valley Libraries website. The books are available in a variety of formats, including print, audio, or as digital downloads.

Local librarians remind you to go to The Great American Read site to vote for your favorite title from the Top 100 list; every vote collected will help PBS determine America’s most-loved novel, which will be announced in November 2018.
